Pineal Region Tumors in Childhood

Abstract
|
|
|
Tumors arising from the pineal gland and surrounding regions such as the posterior 3 rd ventricle and the quadrigeminal area lie in a central portion of the brain and account for 3% to 8% of pediatric intracranial tumors. More than 50% of all pineal tumors are found in patients under 20 years of age.
The details of the historical background, pathology, clinical presentation, diagnostic findings(tumor marker) and treatment are presented.
